Wrong-Way Accident Kills One in Hermitage
A 48-year-old woman died in a wrong-way car accident in Hermitage, Tennessee, early Thursday morning.
A staff report by wkrn.com indicates that the accident occurred at the 5000 block of Old Hickory Boulevard and close to the intersection of Lebanon Road shortly after midnight.
Nashville Metro Police told reporters that the woman was headed south in her Honda Civic while driving in northbound lanes when she collided head-on with a Jeep. The impact of the collision caused her to suffer fatal injuries.
The driver of the Jeep suffered minor injuries during the collision and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the accident revealed that both women were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, and that the driver of the Jeep had her dog in the vehicle at the time of the accident, but it was uninjured during the collision.
Police are also currently investigating whether alcohol or drug intoxication may have contributed to the crash.
