1 Killed after Vehicle Collides Head-On with MTA Bus in Nashville
A 30-year-old man suffered fatal injuries after his vehicle crossed the center line on Charlotte Avenue in Nashville Wednesday morning and collided head-on with an MTA bus.
According to a report by wsmv.com, the accident occurred around 6 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Charlotte Avenue near 19th Avenue North.
Witnesses of the accident said the driver of the red 2004 Toyota Solara appeared to never apply his brakes before colliding with the bus. Investigators with the Nashville Metro Police Department say that traffic camera footage leads them to believe that the man either fell asleep or suffered from a sudden medical emergency while behind the wheel.
Preliminary investigations also indicate that there was no evidence of alcohol or drug use playing a role in the accident.
The 61-year-old driver of the MTA bus was uninjured during the accident, while one of the five passengers onboard at the time suffered a cut to her forehead.
The collision caused police to divert westbound traffic on Charlotte Avenue for several hours as they worked to investigate the crash and clear the accident.
