Three people suffered injuries that required treatment at local hospitals after a T-bone collision pushed a vehicle into a nearby barn in Robertson County on Friday.
Per a report by Smokey Barn News, the crash happened at the intersection of Memorial Blvd and William Woodard Drive just before 10:30 p.m.
A spokesperson with the Tennessee Highway Patrol says that despite both vehicles that were involved in the crash sustaining major damage, the occupants suffered only minor injuries.
One of the vehicles was traveling east on William Woodard Drive and carrying one adult and one 9-year-old child. It collided with a pickup truck traveling north on Memorial Blvd.
The impact of the collision caused the car to exit the roadway and crash into the side of the barn.
Emergency responders closed Memorial Blvd to one lane while troopers with the THP investigated the crash and removed the vehicles from the scene. Meanwhile, the victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
In addition to the THP, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, Robertson County EMS, North Robertson Fire & Rescue, and Springfield Fire Department were called to the accident scene.

Along with head-on collisions and rollover crashes, T-bone accidents are among the most dangerous types of car accidents—especially for the occupants on the side of the vehicle that gets impacted by another car, truck, or SUV. Traffic lights and stop signs are highly effective at keeping traffic moving in the right direction and helping to prevent accidents. Unfortunately, drivers don’t always obey traffic lights and stops signs. When they run them, they may T-bone other vehicles that are passing through the same intersections.
Whether it’s at a yield sign or at a flashing red light at an intersection, yielding is necessary in certain situations for traffic to continue flowing smoothly. At yield signs, drivers should slow down no matter what and come to a complete stop if oncoming traffic is approaching. At flashing red lights, drivers should come to a complete stop and then proceed when the intersection is clear.
If they’re not done at a safe time, left turns expose drivers and their passengers to serious T-bone collisions, as their vehicles are briefly in the path of oncoming traffic. Left turns should only be taken when drivers have green lights and turn signals, or green lights with no oncoming traffic. When turning left at a stop sign or at an area outside of an intersection, make sure you either have the right of way or the road is clear before beginning the turn.
