Critical Injuries Reported after Bell Road Crash in Antioch

Posted in Car Accident,Tennessee Accident Law on May 1, 2017

A car was struck by a truck at the intersection of Bell Road and Mossdale Drive in Antioch on Thursday morning, causing two people to suffer injuries.

Per a report by WKRN.com, the impact of the collision caused the car to be pushed 35 yards before it left the roadway and ended up in a nearby tree line. The driver of the vehicle left the scene, and Metro police say that he or she was likely to have suffered serious injuries during the crash.

Two passengers in the vehicle were transported to local hospitals, and one was reported in critical condition. Police are still searching for the driver, and they also say that the vehicle that he or she was driving may have been involved in multiple hit-and-run accidents earlier that evening.

Metro police closed the intersection near Nashboro Village where the crash occurred to investigate the collision. In addition, police also called the fatal traffic accident team to the scene to aid in the investigation. The current condition of the passenger who suffered critical injuries is unknown.

Steps to Take If You’re the Victim of a Hit-and-Run Accident

Victims of hit-and-run accidents must deal with not only the injuries they suffered during their crashes, but they also often feel anger and frustration, as the drivers who caused the accidents may not be identified for days, weeks, or months. And in some cases, they’re never found.

If you were a victim of a hit-and-run accident, you may feel helpless, but there are a few things you can do to protect your health and your rights to compensation:

  • Call 911, remain at the scene, and cooperate with police.

Whether the other driver is still at the scene or long gone, calling 911 and reporting the accident should be your first step. In addition to sending an ambulance and emergency responders to the scene who can treat your injuries, calling 911 also means that a police officer will soon arrive who can begin investigating the crash. Stay at the scene until he or she arrives and answer his or her questions about the accident truthfully and fully.

  • Get medical treatment right away.

No matter what type of auto accident you were involved in, your top priority should be getting medical attention from a doctor or other healthcare professional. Whether you travel there in an ambulance or arrange your own transportation, going to the hospital or doctor’s office will not only put you on the road to recovery, but it will also create valuable evidence if or when you pursue a claim for compensation.

  • Report the accident to your insurance provider.

To be eligible for any compensation, you must report the accident to your auto insurance provider within a strict deadline—which is often a matter of days after the crash. When speaking with the adjuster, remember to stick to the facts of what happened as best you can remember. Avoid answering questions about aspects of the accident that you aren’t familiar with or don’t know with absolute certainty.

  • Contact a Nashville auto accident lawyer.

Contacting an attorney is an important step when it comes to protecting your rights to compensation—especially if the other driver is still at large. Experienced attorneys can help victims obtain damages after accidents that weren’t their fault, including hit-and-run accidents. In addition, their legal teams can also work to locate the missing drivers that caused crashes.

It’s important to remember that you are still eligible to receive compensation for your accident-related expenses, such as your medical bills and lost wages, even if the other driver isn’t immediately located or is never found. However, obtaining that money can be difficult without an experienced law firm on your side.
