Earlier this month in Leesburg, Florida, a tragic accident claimed the life of a young Tennessee boy when the car in which he was riding was rear-ended. According to a report by Click Orlando, the accident involved a 2010 Kia Soul with three passengers inside and a bucket truck owned by Sumpter Electric Cooperative.
Evidently, both vehicles were traveling southbound on U.S. 27. The Kia contained three family members, including the young boy. As the Kia came to a stop on the highway, for some unknown reason the truck driver did not slow down enough and rammed right into the back of the Kia.
The two adult passengers in the Kia were flown to Leesburg Regional Medical Center. They were both admitted in serious condition, but they are expected to fully recover. The young child, however, was flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from the injuries he sustained in the accident.
Police are currently in the midst of an investigation into the cause of the accident. At this point, police are saying that alcohol was not involved in the fatal accident. However, the investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending against the truck driver.
Rear-End Accidents Are Often Caused By Distracted Driving
