Wrong-Way Accident on Nashville Interstate Sends Three to Local Hospitals
Another wrong-way accident in Nashville sent three people to local hospitals early Tuesday morning after two vehicles collided on Interstate 24.
According to a report by wkrn.com, the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction collided with another vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 24 near Silliman Evans Bridge. The collision ultimately involved multiple vehicles.
The driver and passenger in the vehicle that was struck by the wrong-way driver had to be extricated from the wreckage by emergency responders, and they were both transported to a local hospital for treatment.
In addition, the wrong-way driver also suffered injuries and was transported to a local hospital, and Nashville Metro Police say that they are investigating the driver for driving under the influence at the time of the accident.
The impact of the collision caused police to shut down both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 24 for nearly one hour as they worked to clear the scene.
