Fatal Injuries Reported after Man is Struck by Music City Star

A 25-year-old man was struck by the Music City Star passenger train in Nashville on Tuesday morning, causing him to be pushed into the Stones River and to suffer fatal injuries.

Per a report by, the accident happened in Donelson at around 7:30 a.m. A spokesperson with Metro Nashville Police says that the victim was walking with his back to the train and may have been wearing earbuds at the time of the accident.

The conductor of the train saw the man walking in its path and applied the train’s brakes and sounded its horn. However, the man didn’t move out of the way and was struck by the locomotive. The impact of the collision caused him to be thrown into the river off Lebanon Pike.

Parents of children who attend East Nashville Magnet High School are frustrated with the lack of a crossing guard outside of the school, and they say that too many drivers passing through the area are speeding and not paying attention.

Per a report by, parents say that Gallatin Avenue in front of the school is simply too busy and too heavily trafficked for students to attempt to cross the street on their own. The Tennessee Department of Transportation says that nearly 22,000 drivers use the roadway every day.

One local parent told reporters that the roadway is dangerous for anyone to cross, let alone high school students. She also said that a crossing guard was present on the roadway last year. However, Metro Nashville Police says that crossing guards are only provided to elementary and middle schools.

A 39-year-old man is being charged with vehicular homicide after he struck a pedestrian with his SUV in Nashville late Wednesday.

Per a report by, the accident happened just before midnight in the 1500 block of 22nd Avenue North. An accident report by the Metro Nashville Police revealed that the driver first sideswiped a parked vehicle before he struck the pedestrian.

Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was cooperative when police arrived. He refused to take a field sobriety test, but a search warrant allowed police to obtain a blood sample to test for signs of intoxication or impairment.

A 45-year-old man turned himself in to officers at the South Metro Nashville Police Department Precinct in Davidson County Sunday after he was involved in a crash that killed a pedestrian. reports that the accident occurred just before 9 p.m. on Elm Hill Pike near Royal Parkway. Law enforcement officers told reporters that two people were struck in the roadway by a red truck, and the driver fled the scene without stopping. One of the victims died at a local hospital, while another was seriously injured.

The driver told police at the south precinct where he parked his truck after the incident, and it was retrieved by police to be used as evidence in the case. He also told police that while he saw the two pedestrians on the side of the road, he didn’t realize he was involved in an accident until he returned to his home and noticed fluid on his vehicle.

The driver of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian in Old Hickory early Friday was arrested by Metro Nashville Police near the scene.

Per a report by, the accident happened near the Old Hickory Boulevard bridge that spans the Cumberland River at around 12 a.m.

The Metro Nashville Police report that witnesses say the victim was walking in the road just before he was struck by the vehicle.

A 27-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while he was walking near Briley Parkway in Davidson County.

Per a report by, the accident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. Friday evening near Elm Hill Pike and the Nashville airport.

A spokesperson with Metro Nashville Police told reporters that the victim had hailed a cab to Briley Parkway and exited it on Elm Hill Pike. The man then walked to Briley Parkway and began traveling north and facing southbound traffic.

A vehicle struck three first responders in Hendersonville late Saturday evening, causing all three to suffer injuries.

Per a report by, the responders were working at a crash scene at the intersection of New Shackle Island Road and Drakes Creek Road just before 8:30 p.m.

The previous crash involved two people who were injured while riding a motorcycle. While the emergency responders were attending to that accident scene, a passing vehicle drove into the path of the workers and struck a sheriff’s deputy, an EMS worker, and a firefighter before crashing into a parked ambulance.

Work Begins on Safety Improvements at Intersection of Bell and Mt. View Roads

After city leaders identified the intersection of Bell Road and Mt. View Road in Antioch as being a dangerous area that was the site of many auto accidents and pedestrian accidents, work began Tuesday to make it safer for both drivers and pedestrians.

Per a report by, improvements include a new left-hand turn lane on Mt. View Road and a modification to the median on Bell Road that will now accommodate a left turn.

In addition, the roadway will be safer for pedestrians due to the additions of things like pedestrian and traffic signals, as well as pedestrian ramps and new sidewalks and crosswalks.

Pedestrian Suffers Serious Injuries after Getting Hit by Car on Gallatin Pike

A man in his late 50s was struck by a vehicle while he was crossing Gallatin Pike North Saturday evening, causing him to suffer serious head injuries.

Per a report by, the accident occurred at around 6 p.m. in the 1700 block of the street. Metro Nashville Police say that he was crossing outside of a crosswalk and using a walker to steady his balance. In addition to injuring the man, the impact of the collision smashed the vehicle’s windshield.

The victim was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for his injuries, and police haven’t indicated if the driver will face charges.

Fatal Pedestrian Accident Reported in East Nashville

A 47-year-old man was struck by a vehicle in East Nashville Thursday evening, causing him to suffer fatal injuries. reports that the crash occurred just after 9 p.m. at the intersection of East Trinity Lane and Meridian Street. An investigation by Metro Nashville Police revealed that the man was struck while crossing the street outside of a designated crosswalk.

The man was struck by a 2005 Honda Accord that was traveling west on Trinity Lane.

Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda left the accident scene, then crashed into a brick mailbox and metal fence nearby. He was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center to receive treatment for his injuries.
